- Abstract
The article discusses a study aimed at describing the composition and distribution of freshwater benthic macroinvertebrate communities and their correlation with the physico-chemical parameters of the water and characterizing the water quality in the Boroa River, Southern Chile with the use of a spatial and seasonal analysis applying modified Hilsenhoff Family Biotic Index (IBF). Invertebrates in the Boroa River basin were sampled. It suggests to take into account seasonality when using aquatic macorinvertebrates as bioindicators since the phenomenon can influence the results of biomonitoring analyses.
