- Abstract
Stocker grazing annual winter forages is an important economic activity in the Southern Plains. Supplementing soybean hulls into the forage-only system has been promoted to increase stocking rates and profitability. The purpose of this research was to determine if soybean hull supplementation in the winter forage grazing system is more economical than the conventional practice. The results indicated that a soybean hull supplementation system that stocks 1,680 kg ha-1 of steer body weight on winter rye pasture realized an average net return of $100 ha-1 more than the traditional forage-only system that was stocked with 1,100 kg ha-1 of steer body weight.
