The article focuses on making the Russian Ballet "The Sleeping Princess" into a motion picture. Neither "The Sleeping Princess" nor any other Ballets Russian production was ever filmed. The initiative came from the inveterately anti-populist impresario Serge Diaghilev himself. Diaghilev's early seasons also included two dancers who eventually made long-term careers in film.
