The article presents information on the system of producing and presenting plays with reference to the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. The article also offers the challenges and implications for American modern dance artists including techniques, critical reception and styles. This company was designed to offer home for a group of African performers. The company aims to promote black theater at every turn and this goal is considered as the "composite body," by Randy Martin, cultural theorist.
