- Authors

- Abstract
Both the development of the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) and the wide spread availability of the so-called WebPAC helped facilitate easy access to library resources. WebPAC provides access to library resources to different users. Since 2000, Croatia's Central Medical Library has been developing its WebPAC system. During the first phase, their WebPAC included information on the collections of the Central Medical Library (books, journals, dissertations and bibliographic database Biomedicina Croatica). Today WebPAC of the Central Medical Library offers two union catalogues Skupni katalog medicinskih knjižnica SZI (records of monographs from 6 biomedical libraries) and Katalog biomedicinske periodike u hrvatskim knjižnicama (records of serials from 33 biomedical libraries). The paper describes the conversion to WebPAC, data processing and catalogue maintenance, with special emphasis on the creation of the WebPAC portal and its search engines. Authors describe the advantages and disadvantages of a web-based catalogue, as well as possible directions of future development.
