- Abstract
The article describes the Quality Counts (QC) program of First 5 Alameda County that was implemented in 2001 as a quality improvement initiative on the early care and education (ECE) of children and families. It cites that the program employ a multidisciplinary approach, which includes on-site consultations, nationally recognized assessment tools and collaborative planning. A new approach added in 2011 is discussed, which pairs an ECE consultant with a mental health (MH) consultant, and presents a scenario on how the two worked together.
