- Abstract
The article discusses filmmaker Abderrahmane Sissako's movie "Bamako," in which color was appropriated as a way of claiming new and alternative visions of the social realities and identities in Africa. It says that "Bamako" is a strong critique of globalization and its impact on the local community in Africa. According to the author, Sissako uses color as a key component of the narrative development of the film in order to advance his political and social commentary. Information on "Bamako" as a fictional documentary is also discussed.
