- Abstract
Front Cover: Top and lateral views of the crystalline structures of the two nanoporous crystalline forms of syndiotactic polystyrene (sPS) are shown. The different packing of sPS helices in the two crystal lattices is responsible for the difference in shape and volume of empty space. The porosity is distributed as cavities (having a volume close to 0.125 nm3) and channels (having a diameter of 0.45–50 nm), for the δ and ε forms, respectively. Both the sPS nanoporous crystalline forms are capable of absorbing volatile organic compounds from air and water even at very low activity. Such nanoporous polymer material structures were discovered by Prof. Guerra and are representative of his recent work.
