- Abstract
This article presents information related to cellular mechanisms regulated by ldd loci that protect from the development of islet inflammation (insulitis) and diabetes. It involves testing the presence of published NOD phenotypes in the NOD congenic mice. One such phenotype that has been associated with the development of both human and murine type 1 diabetes is the thymic deficiency of lymphocytes that express TCR receptors on the cell surface, but not CD4 or CD8 molecules. The results indicate that the congenic regions defined do not control the thymic TCR DN deficiency phenotype in NOD mice.
