- Title
Officials downplay vaccine's link with autism.
- Abstract
The article reports on the court ruling regarding the effect of vaccines to an autism-like disorder of a young girl in the U.S. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stresses that the decision to award damages to the victim's family does not show the connection of autism and vaccine. Director Julie Gerberding of CDC asserts that the case has been considered as a very special lawsuit. Furthermore, it says that the ruling is praised by the activists who claim that there is a link between the vaccines' preservative, thimerosal, and the disorder.
