- Abstract
The article offers information on the fish called Chinese sucker or Freshwater batfish. The fish is considered as a second class state protected animal, vulnerable in China, and is the only Catostomidae in Asia. It is a big freshwater fish, slightly high and compressed body, tiny short head, short snout, upturned mouth with osculum-shaped lips, complete lateral line, maxillary barbel absent, flat abdomen. Dorsal fin base long, nearly to the caudal fin, with three lateral stripes and one panda-like dark spot on the rim of the eye in adults.
