- Abstract
The article "Maria in Reception" deals with the veneration and various attributions to Mary, the mother of Jesus. Although there is little information about Mary in the Bible, she is revered as a chaste virgin, the mother of God, and an intercessor. Due to the gaps in the Gospels, various interpretations and additions to the attributions of Mary arise. The significance of Adam and Eve and their relationship to Christ and Mary in Christian theology is also discussed. It is argued that Mary brings life and ultimately defeats sin and death. The reception and interpretation of the figure of Mary in biblical and non-biblical texts play an important role and reveal new facets of her significance.
