- Title
Collection by suggestion--and a little (very little) persuasion.
- Abstract
The article discusses the corporate art collection of the Kiplinger Organization, a family owned publishing company. Willard Kiplinger started the collection in 1920 and his son, Austin Kiplinger, maintains the ultimate veto power in regards to acquiring new pieces. All of the pieces in the Kiplinger collection relate to Washington D.C., where their first office was founded. The Kiplinger collection contains over 5,000 pieces ranging from prints to paintings to historical documents. A specialized subset of the collection depicts how the city was able to withstand the Civil War.
