- Abstract
Objective: Analyze sociodemographic characteristics and risk factors for the CCU among women met in a Basic Health Unit (BHU) in Formosa da Serra Negra/MA. Methods: we performed a quantitative study with 62 women between 20 and 59 years of age. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Centro de Estudos Superiores de Caxias-CESC/UEMA, according to 1,286,766 number. Results: among the Group polled, 63% were married, 70.9%, 37% autodeclararam Brown had incomplete elementary and 48.4% had family as family income. With regard to risk factors, all interviewed had active sex life, 77% had only one partner, 90.4% nonsmoking, 69.4% were multiparous, cytological examination took place 16.2%, 100% not used condom, 24.2% have already had some sexually transmitted disease and 87.1% did not have a family history of uterine cancer. So, with regard to risk factors, perceived as more frequent: no condom use, active sex life and multiparidade. Conclusion: the research points possible relationship of the incidence of the cancer with the three risk factors evidenced and, indirectly, one can consider that low education impedes understanding of the topic, as well as the low family income can hinder access to consultations and examinations.
