- Abstract
This work focused on the comparison of alpha wave between two groups with high hypnotizability and low hypnotizability. The study is a field study with quasi-experimental type having pre-test and posttest. The statistical universe included all participants in training courses in the Iranian Scientific Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ISSCH) in 2011. A total of 30 subjects were selected using random systematic method according to names list among the participants. Using Hypnotic Induction Profile (HIP) which was performed by hypnotizer, the subjects were placed into two groups having high hypnotizability (18 persons) and low hypnotizability (12 persons). Also neuro-feedback system was hired in order to measure subject's brain waves. The Correlated-T (T-Test) in the group with high hypnotizability was 6.8 in both pre-test and post-test states which was significant with p<0.05. In the group with low hypnotizability, the t value was -0.3 which was insignificant (p<0.05). Since Alpha waves are related to relaxation state, the results show that hypnotism makes changes in the body and is a state of deep relaxation which could have therapeutic aspects.
