- Abstract
This study highlights several associations between prior drug allergy and cirAE development and severity among patients taking ICIs. Dear Editor, Cutaneous immune-related adverse events (cirAEs) are the most common subtype of immune-related adverse events (irAEs) elicited from immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in cancer therapy.1,2 Although prior studies have identified associations between medication exposures and irAE developement,3 there is no research examining whether prior drug hypersensitivity reactions are associated with development of cirAEs. Severe cirAEs (grades 2-4) are associated with increased morbidity and mortality among all cirAEs,5 and careful clinical monitoring in patients with a history of penicillin allergy and multiple drug allergies may be necessary to improve clinical outcomes.
