The article examines the effect of fat mass and obesity-associated protein (FTO) rs9939609 variant on in patients with major depression. It states the use of data-driven techniques into typical or melancholic and an atypical subtype for depressed patients. It also emphasizes that increase in appetite and obsession can lead to typical and atypical depression.
