The article explores soldiers' vote in the Second World War and an experiment in social citizenship in New Zealand. Topics discussed include a compilation of a profile of the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force (2NZEF) in the Second World War, the hopes, aspirations and political views of the 2NZEF and examination of a source that detailed returns showing the number of votes recorded for each candidate at each polling-place in the twenty-fifth New Zealand general election of September 1943.
