- Abstract
A literary criticism is presented of the early 17th century American book "Thomas Shepard’s Confessions," by Thomas Shepard. Particular focus is given to the Puritan conversion narratives depicted within the book, including in regard to the relationship between the book's portrayal of spiritual hypocrisy and the history of what is referred to as hypocritical rhetoric within Christianity.
