- Abstract
The article focuses on the potential of dogs as companions to help promote communications in individuals with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities (PMID). It states that researches must be aimed at evaluating whether dogs as a medium to provide multisensory stimulation can be pleasant and get attention in which such individuals can positively engage. Also, it notes that future studies must attempt to link the impact of the presence of dogs on the mood and attitude of the therapists.
