- Abstract
This article discusses the importance of considering the impact of diseases on patients' quality of life (QoL) and the stigma associated with certain dermatological diseases, specifically vitiligo. The study by Fakih et al. focuses on assessing stigmatization in patients with vitiligo using a specific tool called the Patient Unique Stigmatization Holistic tool in Dermatology (PUSH-D) score. The results show that darker skin phototypes, spreading disease, and facial involvement are predictors of stigma in vitiligo, and patients experiencing higher stigma are more likely to develop symptoms of depression. The article emphasizes the need for high-quality care and new treatments for patients with vitiligo, including systemic therapies for severe forms of the disease.
