- Title
Should a Company Offer a Nonqualified Retirement Program or Nonqualified Retirement Programs -- A Contrarian View.
- Authors
Elman, J. Grant
- Abstract
This article closely examines the question of whether nonqualified retirement programs are still valuable tools that aid in the recruitment and retention of executives. The author remarks that, due to the various objectives many companies have when they recruit highly paid employees, it is critical for employers to closely examine their specific objectives for implementing any nonqualified retirement program. Finally, the author argues that many companies may find that a simple deferred compensation incentive or direct cash compensation may be the best response in the employer's objectives. INSET: Government's role in the evolution of NQRPs--then.
