- Abstract
A study is conducted to determine the effect of interior wall color on hospital patients. Participants were shown a 360 degree panorama of first an examination room and then a recovery room with either white or blue walls. The level of cognitive appraisal, pleasure, anxiety, and perceived service quality were measured and compared for each. Results showed that subjects felt significantly more anxious in the examination room, but that anxiety levels dropped when the walls were blue. Benefits of this study include improvement of hospital interiors in order to alleviate anxiety and improve perceived service quality.
