- Abstract
Objective: To analyze the importance of emotional care provided by nursing to women with cancer. Methods: This is an integrative literature review which prioritized articles in Portuguese and English published from 2012 to 2016. The following databases were consulted: Bedenf, Lilacs, Scielo and Medline. Results: We found 63 articles, but only 17 were used in this review. Thus, in order to write an effective nursing care plan, it is necessary to understand the feelings experienced by women with cancer. It should be part of nursing care to hear, to touch, and to encourage patients to express feelings, as well as to provide care and attend patient's needs in their entirety. However, actions and nursing interventions are needed to have better adherence to treatment. Conclusion: The study showed that nursing intervene in women with cancer, through promotion of care that help them to keep emotional health. And that attention to subjective needs of women affected by cancer is essential for a satisfactory care.
