- Title
Attempts to slow myopia progression in children only minimally effective.
- Authors
Pagnani, Michelle
- Abstract
The article focuses on the apparent minimal efficacy of the approaches adopted by medical practitioners to slow myopia progression in children. It is said that such methods have only resulted into 0.5 day (D) or one D of visual improvement. Some approaches considered by surgeons are discussed, one is atropine eye drops. Ophthalmologist Jeffrey J. Walline believes that the nonpermanent effect of orthokeratology or rigid gas-permeable (RGP) lenses can benefit children.
