- Abstract
The article highlights the findings of a study presented by surgeon Sheraz M. Daya, on behalf of colleague Omar J. Hakim, before the attendees of the annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2008. Accordingly, the study has found that ex vivo expanded stem cell allografts enhanced corneal stability with a low rejection rate in treating acute limbal stem cell deficiency. In the said study, Daya and colleagues grew grafts on plastic using a method by doctor Graziella Pellegrini.
