- Abstract
The article presents a research study on the changes in rat cortex's proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 PCSK9 mRNA expression after cerebral ischemia. It states that PCSK9 can increase the low density lipoprotein level which is known to be a cerebrovascular disease risk factor. The study examines the role of PCSK9 in ischemic cerebrovascular disease in rats. In situ hybridization indicates gradual increase in PCSK9 mRNA expression and prolonged reperfusion period in ischemic cortices.
