- Authors
Voelker, David J.; Armstrong, Anthony
- Abstract
The article discusses the role of questions in the study and teaching of U.S. history. According to the authors, designing history courses around open-ended questions encourages students to think critically and to practice reasoned analysis rather than memorization, as well as to explore connections between the past and the present. Examples from junior high, high school, and college-level courses are presented.
