EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS: VULNERABILITIES REMAIN AND LIMITED COLLABORATION AND MONITORING HAMPER FEDERAL EFFORTS.
- Abstract
The article discusses the study done by the U.S. Government Accountability Office on the vulnerability of emergency communication during hurricanes and terrorist attack. It says that Federal Communication Commission (FCC) and Department of Homeland Security has increased their efforts to enhance emergency communication. It states that GAO recommends the complete effort of DHS in the implementation of National Emergency Communication Plan. Result of the study shows that capacity, communication, and interoperability continuation are main areas of vulnerability in the emergency communication response in communities.
