- Abstract
The article discusses the emblematic-visual occupation of public space through the fascist regime in South Tyrol after 1922. Topics include legislative measures related to coats of arms, the printing of coins and emblems, and the political role of various symbols. Particular focus is given to the increasing significance of roman-imperial symbols in fascist Italy, particularly the symbol of the fasces. Party symbols of the middle ages as well as under Napolen's regime are also discussed as well as the history of communal heraldry in Bozen, Italy, since the 15th century.
