The article presents the text of a speech by Elizabeth A. Stanton, Director and Senior Economist at the Applied Economics Clinic in Somerville, Massachusetts, on the role of consumer action in carbon emission reduction. Topics discussed include history of the narrative about consumer impact on climate change and other environmental problems, impact of diet on the emissions that cause climate change and decisions that can be made by individual consumers.
