- Abstract
The article offers information on the first steps taken by the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women 1979 (CEDAW) of the United Nations (UN) to implement the Optional Protocol (OP). The steps include elimination of discrimination, establishment of gender equality, and contribution to women's empowerment. The CEDAW was adopted by the General Assembly of the UN on October 6, 1999.
