- Abstract
The spectral harmonics of forced expiratory wheezing (FEW) sounds, corresponding to an integer series, were revealed above the trachea in 19 out of 28 tested volunteers. Analysis of the composition, ratio and chest surface distribution of the spectral harmonics of FEW was conducted, which were recorded by 11 acoustic sensors along the surface of the chest on samplings of healthy individuals (n = 9) and people with respiratory diseases (n = 10). The most probable cause of the occurrence of FEW harmonics is the nonlinearity in the source of their formation, and the supposed mechanism is the interaction between turbulent air flow vortices and the elastic wall of the central airways of the human bronchial tree.
