- Abstract
The article presents a study which determines whether antibodies to locus of enterocyte effacement (LEE)-encoded proteins are detectable in mucosal secretions from terminal colon and rectum in adult yearling cattle after Escherichia coli 057:H7 infection. It reveals that adult cattle develop colonic and rectal munosal antibodies of the immunoglobulin A (IgA) classes to the E coli antigens. Immunisation was found to be immunogenic in a rabbit and adult cow.
