- Abstract
This article discusses the history of federal elections in Mexico during the early 21st century. The author comments on the electoral process, political corruption, and electoral and political reforms that took place during this time period, as well as their consequences on the 2012 presidential elections. She considers the attempts made by the Mexican government to make the elections process more equitable for all voters. The return to power of the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) in 2012, the student political movement #YoSoy132, and the crisis faced by the Partido Acción Nacional (PAN) are also explored.
