- Abstract
The article focuses on the role of fox trot among Ladinos musical nationalism in Guatemala. It states that the ladinos incorporate foreign repertories like fox trot to celebrate technological advancement in 20th century, during the promotion of marimba as an emblem of their national cosmopolitanism. It mentions that the ethnographic work shows the tension between music that acquired through previous modern association, and music that acts the cosmopolitan attitudes of ladinos.
