- Title
Keyed style drills save time, energy for all concerned.
- Authors
Berner, R. Thomas
- Abstract
The article discusses the author's view on teaching newswriting to journalism students. The author joined Penn State's 10-week prolonged classroom devotion to style in newswriting. He was assigned a squeezed six week newswriting program. His work was to retain the style exercises but to key most the errors not to the alphabetized entry but to the page the entry is on. The author feels that with limited or compressed time, keying lower priority exercises might be a good way to get the most out of the least amount of time. The author further stresses that students should react positively to the key and learn better.
