- Title
The Saving of Lugey's Boat: Part I of a Series.
- Authors
Stephenson, Tony
- Abstract
The author pays attention to attempts to preserve the Newfoundland folk song "Lukey's Boat." In Helen Creighton's book "Folk Songs and Ballads of Nova Scotia," the author observed a rudimentary resemblance of the song "Loakie's Boat" to "Lukey's Boat." The author found that "Lukey's Boat" in the book "Folk Songs of Canada" is almost identical to the version of the Nova Scotia song collected in Lunenberg in 1930. In a review of the song texts "MusiCanada" and "Canada Is Music," he also noticed that "Lukey's Boat" was printed with the Nova Scotia version.
