Stolen surgical tools spark hospital audit.
- Abstract
The article reports on the audit ordered against the Mackay Base Hospital in Queensland after surgeries were cancelled due to stolen surgical equipment. Reportedly, instruments used to perform eye surgery were stolen by a hospital employee and another man who are about to face the Mackay Magistrates Court. Queensland Health had apologized patients for the cancelled surgery, however, opposition health spokesman Mark McArdle states that officials are also liable for the theft.
