The article focuses on the lack of fire management at the Norbeck Wildlife Preserve in South Dakota by the U.S. Forest Service. Topics discussed include increase in litigation related to the management of public land, several laws governing preserves such as the Norbeck Organic Act and the National Environmental Policy Act, logging at the preserve being discussed in Friends of the Norbeck v. U.S. Forest Serv. and the need for the U.S. to pass a fire management law.
