- Abstract
The article presents a study which investigates the metabolic pathway of phosphatidic acid synthesis in bacteria. Phosphatidic acid has been noted to be essential in synthesizing phospholipid membranes. The study involves Gram-negative organism Escherichia coli and Gram-positive organism Streptococcus pneumoniae. The formation of phosphatidic acid was through the acylation of glycerol-3-phosphate (G3P) and various acyltransferase enzymes.
