The article focuses on students voice and choice in the balanced literacy classroom. Topics discussed include The goal or purpose of a conversation center is for the students to engage in informational text, to have rigorous conversations with other students, and to document their learning; and the children had opportunities to visit these centers during the scheduled balanced literacy block period.
