Padilla Carroll, Valerie
- Abstract
The article discusses the writings of the late American author Myrtle Mae Borsodi in relation to what the author refers to as feminist empowerment and back-to-the-land housewifery in the early twentieth century. Back-to-the-land social movements and political projects are addressed, along with American myths regarding individualist autonomy and independence. Self-sufficiency and Borsodi's husband Ralph Borsodi are examined, along with domesticity and household work.
