- Authors
Gallagher, Tom
- Abstract
The article discusses democracy in Portugal that emerged since the revolution in 1974. It is a country that had undergone a lot of revolutionary politics. Civil- military rivalry, bitter ideological and regional divisions, and the trauma of decolonization are the factors that helped democracy survived in this country that was for many years run by an oligarchy or authoritarian government. Portugal's revolution had left some legacies that complicates the democratic transition that was not yet on its full state. However, economic concerns were the one threatening the country's political stability.
