- Authors
Johnson Jr., Jack Buckland; Sabatini, Philip Louis; Sparkman Jr., Monte Richard
- Abstract
The article presents a debate between power lifting coach Monet Richard Sparkman Jr. and strength and conditioning coach Philip Louis Sabatini over the effectiveness of power lifting and Olympic lifting as main athletic training method. Sparkman notes that power lifting is based on absolute strength which he says is the foundation of athletic development. But Sabbatini disputes that Olympic weightlifting can increase the speed strength. Sparkman contends that Olympic lifting does not improve the absolute strength of athletes.
