- Abstract
INCREASED sebum production occurs in patients with breast cancer1,2 and this does not seem to be caused by increased androgen production3. The tumour and the sebaceous glands may be responding to the same endocrine drive, and identification of this hormonal drive might be important in the control of breast cancer. To further define the relationship between the mammotrophic and sebotrophic hormones we have studied the effect of suckling on sebum secretion, as suckling is known to stimulate the mammary glands.
