- Abstract
The article presents a case study of a 76 year-old man who had to undergo internal fixation of an intertrochanteric fracture of the right femur. The patient had history of diabetes mellitus, hypertension and chronic renal failure. He was accidentally given intrathecal injection of dopamine hydrochloride during spinal anesthesia which resulted in analgesic effects. The article concludes that dopamine can induce vasoconstriction in the spinal cord resulting in ischemia.
