- Title
Learning: Dabbling in babbling.
- Authors
Whalley, Katherine
- Abstract
The article discusses the importance and meaning of babbling and dabbling in babies. Babbling is one motor behaviour that helps infants to learn to control the muscles that are required to produce adult behaviors such as speech. A group of researchers reported that specialized neural circuits different from those that produce adult vocalizations might be a cause of babbling. They illustrated that lesioning lateral magnocellular nucleus of the nidopallium (LMAN) abolished subsong production.
