- Title
Synapse stabilization: A complex story.
- Authors
Whalley, Katherine
- Abstract
The article explores the study "Spatial Regulation of an E3 Ubiquitin Ligase Directs Selective Synapse Elimination," by M. Ding and colleagues. In this paper, researchers describe a molecular pathway which has a role in synapse elimination regulation in Caenorhabditis elegans. Findings show that transmembrane protein SYG-1 may protect synaptic components from degradation at the primary synapsis region and increase the Skp1-Cullin-F-box (SCF) components, by local inhibition of SCF formation.
