- Abstract
From Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties to Tang Dynasty, it can be said that ancient China and the western regions had the most profound influence on each other in terms of clothing. The clothing of Tang dynasty inherits and magnifies the characteristics of Southern clothing, absorbs the hu dress style and forms the new normal clothing. The western clothing changes less during this period, which is mainly reflected in the close proximity to the clothing of tang dynasty. As the representative paintings of western characters in the two periods, the“Portraits of Foreign Worshiper”and“the Envoy’s Image”to some extent reflect the synchronization and as⁃ similation trend of the development and change of Chinese and western costumes from the Southern dynasty to the Tang dynasty, and also reflect the basic vein of clothing development under the communication between Chi⁃ na and foreign countries.
